Discover the Legacy of the Vanderhoof Flying Club


In 1965, Columbia Airlines began flight training through the club with a handful of members.
By 1966, Kamloops Aircraft launched a satellite school, enabling fourteen students to earn their licenses. The club installed a 3000-gallon underground fuel tank and dedicated many hours to keeping the grass on the runways trimmed. Club members built a public wharf on the Nechako River. In the early 1970s, the club invested in a two-way radio for the airport, which continues to operate today.

Mechanical repairs are handled by RDS Aviation under Royce Schaff. The club also maintains a ski strip each winter, enabling access to remote lakes for ice fishing, a tradition started by long-time member Stan Chapman.
The Flight School now has one full time instructor, two aircraft and a 24/7 Self Serve Fuel System offering 100LL and Jet !
